Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report initial examinations indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the residents for tips.
An important official commented the attack left him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
