Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial title since the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

His counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

He came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

He saved four early chances in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
