Thomas Tuchel Insists Top Talents Don't Always Form the Best Squad
The England manager declared that putting together the highest-profile players is no assurance of creating the best squad dynamic. He hinted regardless of whether the Real Madrid midfielder had returned to peak fitness following his shoulder problem, he might still have missed out from the recent national team selection.

England's head coach also indicated that the Arsenal winger's recall may not have happened if his teammate Noni Madueke remained fit. The coach has put great importance on squad unity with his choices for the upcoming Wales friendly and subsequent qualifier against Latvia.

Physical Condition Factors
While Tuchel partially explained Bellingham's exclusion to fitness concerns, he acknowledged that the midfielder desired selection during their conversation. The German coach had earlier said sorry to the midfielder for remarks about his on-field conduct.
"Don't you think that behavior on the bench, commitment in sessions, and team togetherness allows the starting eleven to perform to their potential?" he questioned.

Tuchel emphasized that his selections were not personal targeting specific individuals but rather rewarded those who had performed during the previous campaign.
"What would be justify to leave them out while remaining credible in my words?" Tuchel asked.
Injury Enforced Changes
The only change in selection was compulsory with the unfit Madueke making way for the recovered Bukayo Saka. The manager explained that the Arsenal winger could have been excluded if Madueke stayed healthy.
Other absentees included Chelsea's Cole Palmer, who continues to struggle with fitness issues. With only two more camps before the World Cup, time is running out for some players to impress.

The manager revealed his preference for England's World Cup games to start later because of temperature worries in North America. He acknowledged this might cause viewing difficulties for English fans but insisted athlete protection remains the priority.
"I understand supporters won't be happy but for the team it's better if we play later," Tuchel said. "Our athletes make the sport and we have to protect them."
